Haiti is a mountained country with a population of aproximately 8M people. For over 50 years people have been cutting down the trees in order to maintain their livelywood. Since any of those trees have been replaced, the mountains become "naked"... Wherever you look up at the mountains you'll see only rocks and some dry wild grass. That’s why soil erosion has become one of the biggest problems that the country is facing. Whenever there is a rain drop the mountains’ top soil and rocks coming down blocking all sewages, streets and roads, stopping people's activities sometimes for days.
In order to help resolve that problem BWAYITI is taking action by plainting trees all over the country.
As a voluntary based organization we’re always on the search for new members.
